Philippe Rousselot will direct on Open Set at GoKinema 2014
Philippe Rousselot is leading cinematographer whose credits include: Diva, The Emerald Forest, Thérèse, Hope and Glory, The Bear, Dangerous Liaisons, Henry and June, A River Runs Through It, Queen Margot, Mary Reilly, Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Sherlock Holmes. He has collaborated with top directors including Jean-Jacques Annaud, Bertrand Blier, John Boorman, Tim Burton, Patrice Chéreau, Milos Forman, Stephen Frears, Neil Jordan and Robert Redford. Philippe’s work has earned him many awards, including an Oscar, a BAFTA, and 3 Cesars.
Philippe Rousselot will be directing Open Set on Saturday 25th January, and also take part in a Master Class and Cinema Workshop, both moderated by Benjamin B.
In the Master Class, excerpts from Philippe’s work will be the starting point for discussions about lighting, framing and directing.
In the Cinema Workshop, a short scene will be shot with several variations of camera movement and framing to illustrate approaches to operating, scene breakdown and mise en scène.
Benjamin B is the author of Reflections, a book about lighting. He is also Senior European correspondent for the American Cinematographer magazine, and editor of thefilmbook.com.
